A warm welcome to the new Head of School at Barton Clough

We are delighted with the appointment of Jonny Foster-Carr as the new Head of School at Barton Clough Primary School.

Jonny took up his headship at the start of 2023 and enthused: “I am delighted to be joining Barton Clough as the new Head of School. I have received such a warm welcome from pupils, staff and the community, and can tell that this is a fantastic school to be a part of.

“I feel privileged to be able to lead Barton Clough and continue to build upon the success already achieved on our school’s positive journey of improvement. My vision for the school is to ensure that the needs of all children are met in all areas of school life and that each child is given a wealth of experiences and opportunities. This, in turn, will see them leave at the end of Year 6 as confident, responsible, and competent members of society, ready for the next step of their learning journey.

“Bright Future’s vision; ‘the best for everyone; the best from everyone,’ is aligned to my own beliefs, and has been evident from my first few weeks as head. I feel incredibly lucky to have a brilliant team who genuinely want the best for our pupils and go above and beyond to achieve this. I have had great support from the Bright Futures team to make this transition as smooth as possible.”

It is an exciting time at Barton Clough as work is well underway to refurbish its building and facilities. The project has started to take shape and will:

  • provide an improved teaching and learning environment
  • offer fun play areas to improve children’s physical and mental health and wellbeing
  • improve the external appearance of the school
  • enhance the thermal performance of the building and reduce its carbon footprint

There will be new classrooms, new roofing and, perhaps top of the list for our children, a brand-new canopied play area! The transformation will have such a positive impact on children, and we are hoping that these works will be completed by the summer.

John Stephens, CEO of Bright Futures Educational Trust, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Jonny to the headship of Barton Clough Primary School. He brings a wealth of experience from working both in multi-academy trusts and the maintained sector, and I know he will have a hugely positive impact in the lives of children, families, colleagues and the wider community at Barton Clough. This is a fantastic time to join the school and in joining our Trust, Jonny will benefit from the support of colleagues from across Bright Futures.”
